Legacy offers a full service genotype registry and testing service with minimal cost and maximum benefit. Registration is simple and expedient. Paying Legacy Service Application Fees using PayPal: After you have submitted one or more Legacy Service Applications, you can use the PayPal "Buy Now" button at the right to pay the application fees. Just total up the fees from all the applications you submitted and enter the total dollar amount in the "Item price" box during the PayPal checkout process.
The Legacy Registry will comprise two separate divisions, horned Dexter cattle and polled Dexter cattle offering breeders the ability of separate statistics and information on which to plan their breeding programs. The divisions are identified by the registration number.
Registration requires that both the sire and dam of the applicant Dexter be registered Dexter cattle recorded in an existing registry. The applicant Dexter must be genotyped and entered in the Legacy Genotype Database with the Veterinary Genetic Laboratory, University of California. The genotype test is included in the registration fee of $25.00. Breeders are encouraged to also add the sire and dam to the database and complete parentage confirmation.
All Dexters in the Legacy Registry are genotyped and parentage confirmed where applicable at no additional cost. Additional testing ( chondrodysplasia, red and dun color testing, A2 milk ) is offered with the following competitive pricing:
- DNA genotype: $25.00
- PHA: $20.00
- A2 Milk: $25.00
- Chondrodysplasia: $20.00
- Red Factor or Dun color tests: $20.00 each
Legacy Classifieds
Please take a look at the Legacy Classifieds section of the site. This is where Dexter breeders who use Legacy testing services can post their own Ranch Listings and Animal Listings and anyone can browse the listings.
